Where do you start with the program?
The CORE phonics screener will help determine where to begin with your students.
Once you have administered and scored the CORE phonics screener, you will be able to reference the scope and sequence within the UFLI manual to determine a starting point,
How are the lessons structured?
Each lesson has a Day 1 & Day 2 plan. Within each of the lessons are 8 steps. Steps 1 through 4 serve as a warm-up and review of previously taught concepts. Step 5 is an explicit introduction to a new concept including guided practice reading and spelling words. Steps 6 through 8 are opportunities to apply concepts through reading and writing activities at the word and text level.
What progress monitoring is available?
Spelling assessments are on page 354 of the UFLI manual.

How does the blending board work?

The blending board is easy to access from the UFLI website and very user friendly. Personally, I find using the blending board routinely, helps build automaticity in my readers.
How do I find decodable text?
The UFLI Foundations Decodable Text Guide is designed to assist teachers in locating decodable text from various sources that aligns with the UFLI Foundations Scope & Sequence. The UFLI Foundations decodable text guide is directly linked on the first column.
Can I skip over lessons?
The lessons were carefully designed to be taught in order. Please do not skip over lessons. By following the order of the lessons, you will keep the integrity of the program and the fidelity of the implementation valid.
